Yes, Vimeo is blocked nationally in Iran: of 7,220 OONI tests of vimeo.com from Iranian networks between 15 July and 15 October 2026, only 415 (5.7%) loaded normally, and 3,453 were confirmed blocks. In our 15 October 2026 tests Vimeo did not play through AnyProxy either: vimeo.com showed a Cloudflare 'Verify to continue' check that failed, and the embedded player loaded but stayed at 00:00.

Measured inside Iran · OONI
7,220 OONI tests of vimeo.com from 2026-07-15 to 2026-10-15: 415 loaded normally, 3,211 anomalies (not proof of blocking), 3,453 confirmed blocked, 141 test failures.
Between 15 July and 15 October 2026, 94% of OONI tests of vimeo.com from Iran did not load normally (3,453 confirmed blocks, 3,211 anomalies), on every network sampled, from TCI and MCI to Irancell and Respina. Sampled confirmed blocks show the DNS answer replaced by 10.10.34.36, a private address used for Iran's filtering, instead of Vimeo's servers. This is a national block, not a single network's filter.

What we tested through AnyProxy
Tested from our proxy exits, not from a Iran ISP. Results can change when Vimeo changes.
How to unblock from Iran
A phone on mobile data, a college PC, a managed browser — anything that runs Chrome, Safari, or Firefox works from Iran.
Frankfurt is closest for most Iran networks. Switch if your ISP filters the first hop.
Vimeo is fetched from outside your network and opens in this tab. Some features may not work; see tests on this page.
Deep dive · Vimeo in Iran specifically
2014–2017: OONI's three-year study of Iranian networks lists vimeo.com among the blocked media-sharing platforms; ISPs served blockpages through DNS injection and HTTP transparent proxies. Sep 2017: OONI measurement on AS31549 records HTTP blocking of vimeo.com. Sep 2021: OONI measurement on Irancell (AS44244) again records blocking of vimeo.com. Jan 2026: Vimeo's help centre lists Iran among sanctioned areas where 'certain Vimeo services might be available for personal use, but are not for business or educational use'. Jul–Oct 2026: OONI: 415 of 7,220 tests of vimeo.com from Iran load normally; 3,453 confirmed blocks.
OONI's 2017 report found Iranian ISPs blocking both HTTP and HTTPS sites by DNS injection and HTTP transparent proxies serving blockpages. In the 2026 window, sampled confirmed measurements (e.g. AS50810, 14 Oct 2026, uid 20261014203926.253943_IR_webconnectivity_1c37ebcf6e03b518) show vimeo.com resolving to 10.10.34.36 instead of Vimeo's real addresses; at least one sample on AS44208 was classed as http-failure. Separately, Vimeo itself restricts some services in Iran because of sanctions, so there are two layers: Iran's filter and Vimeo's own policy. When reached through a proxy, vimeo.com sits behind a Cloudflare bot check that failed for our exits.
In our tests through AnyProxy on 15 October 2026, these did not work: Open a Vimeo video page (Frankfurt); Open a Vimeo video page (Singapore); Play the same video in Vimeo's embed player (player.vimeo.com). Details and screenshots are below.
DNS snapshot
We scanned 15 public DNS resolvers worldwide for vimeo.com. Below is what each resolver returned. This shows how the domain resolves from public resolvers outside your network, not what your ISP returns.
Snapshot from DomainScan on 2026-10-05. A resolver that gave no answer is not proof of blocking in Iran; see the measurements above for in-country evidence.
