Not now. The PTA degraded Wikipedia on 1 February 2023 and blocked it on 3 February over 'sacrilegious content'; the Prime Minister ordered it restored and access returned on 6 February 2023. Between 15 July and 15 October 2026, 1,230 of 1,257 OONI tests of en.wikipedia.org from Pakistan loaded normally, with no confirmed blocks.

Measured inside Pakistan · OONI
1,257 OONI tests of en.wikipedia.org from 2026-07-15 to 2026-10-15: 1,230 loaded normally, 27 anomalies (not proof of blocking).
Wikipedia loads normally across Pakistani networks: 97.9% of OONI tests of en.wikipedia.org (and 56 of 57 of ur.wikipedia.org, separate query) were normal over the last three months, with zero confirmed blocks. The 27 anomalies are almost all on one ISP, Multinet (26), and are not confirmed blocking. If Wikipedia fails for you, the cause is more likely a local filter or a single page removed on request.
Retrieved 2026-10-15. Volunteers run OONI Probe on their own networks; an anomaly is a signal, not proof. Open these measurements on OONI Explorer.

Tested from our proxy exits, not from a Pakistan ISP. Results can change when Wikipedia changes.
How to unblock from Pakistan
A phone on mobile data, a college PC, a managed browser — anything that runs Chrome, Safari, or Firefox works from Pakistan.
Singapore is closest for most Pakistan networks. Switch if your ISP filters the first hop.
Wikipedia is fetched from outside your network and opens in this tab. Some features may not work; see tests on this page.
Deep dive · Wikipedia in Pakistan specifically
1 Feb 2023: PTA announces it has degraded Wikipedia for 48 hours for not blocking or removing 'sacrilegious content', warning of a full block. 3 Feb 2023: Wikipedia blocked in Pakistan; the Wikimedia Foundation says its traffic reports show the projects unavailable there. 6 Feb 2023: PM Shehbaz Sharif orders Wikipedia restored after a ministerial committee finds a blanket block unsuitable; access returns. Jul–Oct 2026: OONI: 1,230 of 1,257 tests of en.wikipedia.org from Pakistan load normally; 0 confirmed blocks.
OONI's analysis of February 2023 found timeouts on 1–2 February (the 'degraded' phase) and then connection resets on 3–6 February, on all five networks it had data for. OONI's report does not describe it as DNS blocking. The order came from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.
In our tests through AnyProxy on 15 October 2026, these worked: Read an English Wikipedia article (Singapore); Read an Urdu Wikipedia article (Singapore). Details and screenshots are below.
DNS snapshot
We scanned 15 public DNS resolvers worldwide for wikipedia.org. Below is what each resolver returned. This shows how the domain resolves from public resolvers outside your network, not what your ISP returns.
Snapshot from DomainScan on 2026-10-05. A resolver that gave no answer is not proof of blocking in Pakistan; see the measurements above for in-country evidence.

Legal in Pakistan?
Using a proxy is not illegal in Pakistan, but PTA has warned that unregistered VPNs may be restricted. What you access remains subject to local law.
Nothing on this page constitutes legal advice. If your workplace policy prohibits proxies specifically, that policy still applies; the fact that the tool is legal does not override an agreement you signed with a network operator.
