YouTube is not blocked in Vietnam: OONI measurements from 15 July to 15 October 2026 show 7,606 of 7,635 tests of www.youtube.com loading normally, with no confirmed blocks. Vietnam's pressure is on individual videos: the government said YouTube removed 1,670 videos at its request in Q1 2023 (93% compliance), and Decree 147/2024, in force since 25 December 2024, requires platforms to verify users by Vietnamese phone or ID number and remove content the state deems illegal.

Measured inside Vietnam · OONI
7,635 OONI tests of www.youtube.com from 2026-07-15 to 2026-10-15: 7,606 loaded normally, 16 anomalies (not proof of blocking), 13 test failures.
99.6% of 7,635 OONI tests from Vietnamese networks loaded YouTube normally (15 Jul–15 Oct 2026), 0 confirmed blocks and 16 anomalies spread across VNPT, Viettel, FPT and others. If YouTube fails for you, it is your local network, not a national block.

Tested from our proxy exits, not from a Vietnam ISP. Results can change when YouTube changes.
How to unblock from Vietnam
A phone on mobile data, a college PC, a managed browser — anything that runs Chrome, Safari, or Firefox works from Vietnam.
Singapore is closest for most Vietnam networks. Switch if your ISP filters the first hop.
YouTube is fetched from outside your network and opens in this tab. Some features may not work; see tests on this page.
Deep dive · YouTube in Vietnam specifically
Q1 2023: Vietnam's Ministry of Information says Google removed 1,670 YouTube videos at its request (93% compliance); Meta removed 1,096 posts, TikTok 323 links. Jul 2023: Ministry reports Google removed 1,052 more YouTube videos (91% compliance). 9 Nov 2024: Decree 147/2024/ND-CP on internet services and online information is signed, replacing Decree 72/2013. 25 Dec 2024: Decree 147 takes effect: platforms must verify users by Vietnamese phone number or ID; only verified accounts may post; illegal content must be removed on request. Jul–Oct 2026: OONI: 7,606 of 7,635 tests of www.youtube.com from Vietnam load normally; 0 confirmed blocks.
Vietnam does not block YouTube; it sends takedown requests that Google largely complies with (HRW World Report 2024 citing the Ministry of Information), and Decree 147/2024 adds identity verification and mandatory removal of content authorities deem illegal (Global Voices). Earlier rules reported by Access Now (2022) require 'illegal' content to be removed within 24 hours and illegal livestreams within 3 hours. The restriction is therefore on videos and on posting, not on watching youtube.com.

DNS snapshot
We scanned 15 public DNS resolvers worldwide for youtube.com. Below is what each resolver returned. This shows how the domain resolves from public resolvers outside your network, not what your ISP returns.
Snapshot from DomainScan on 2026-10-05. A resolver that gave no answer is not proof of blocking in Vietnam; see the measurements above for in-country evidence.

Legal in Vietnam?
Web proxy use is not explicitly prohibited in Vietnam, though the Cybersecurity Law regulates the content itself.
Nothing on this page constitutes legal advice. If your workplace policy prohibits proxies specifically, that policy still applies; the fact that the tool is legal does not override an agreement you signed with a network operator.
