What is a ChatGPT proxy?
The short answer
A ChatGPT proxy is a server that fetches ChatGPT for you and returns the page through your browser. Instead of your device asking chatgpt.com directly, your browser asks anyproxy.site, and we ask ChatGPT on your behalf. The site sees our server, not you. Your network sees anyproxy.site, not ChatGPT.
That single hop is what lets a blocked ChatGPT page open. No app to install, no account to make. Six regions, sorted by real latency.

When ChatGPT will not load, ChatGPT's own servers are rarely the cause. Here is a dated snapshot of the real chatgpt.com infrastructure from DomainScan on 2026-10-05 — compare against your network's symptoms.
15 of 15 public DNS resolvers returned an address for chatgpt.com in this snapshot. A resolver with no answer is not proof of blocking anywhere. If your own network returns nothing or a different address, the problem is more likely on your network than at ChatGPT.

What the proxy cannot do for ChatGPT
Honest caveats
- OpenAI performs its own geo-check on chatgpt.com. AnyProxy's free regions are Singapore, Frankfurt and Virginia (US); Pro adds Tokyo and Los Angeles. There is no London region. On 15 Oct 2026 the ChatGPT interface loaded via Virginia and Singapore; Frankfurt stuck at Cloudflare's check.
- ChatGPT may sit on Cloudflare's 'Verifying…' box. Wait 30–40 seconds, then reload or switch region. Results varied from run to run on the same day, so one success does not mean every load works.
- Signing in to a ChatGPT account from a region different to your usual sign-in triggers OpenAI security — you may see email verification or temporary account hold. Sign in from your usual IP first, then switch to the proxy.
- We have not tested ChatGPT Plus checkout; it needs a login. The proxy does not change the country of your card.
- ChatGPT voice mode uses WebRTC which does NOT tunnel cleanly through a browser proxy. Use text mode for proxy sessions.
- ChatGPT mobile apps route separately from the browser and are NOT proxied by AnyProxy. Open chatgpt.com in Safari / Chrome on mobile instead of the app.
- Users in US-sanctioned territories: using a proxy to access ChatGPT may conflict with the sanctions regime. This page describes technical function only; compliance with local law is your responsibility.

Open ChatGPT on managed devices
Managed networks — managed Wi-Fi, café PCs, hostel internet — often filter ChatGPT at the DNS or IP level. Content filters used by schools and companies sort sites into categories such as "ai", and administrators choose which categories to block.
Because AnyProxy is a website — not an app or extension — a Chromebook or managed browser that restricts installs still opens it in Chrome. Type chatgpt.com and ChatGPT opens in the same tab, as far as the site allows it; see the tests above. Note: your organisation's acceptable-use policy still applies; check it before use.

ChatGPT access in Russia is partially restricted by OpenAI's own regional policy, not by Russian network filtering. OpenAI does not officially serve users with Russian IP addresses — the ChatGPT web interface loads but chat sessions fail geographic eligibility checks. Roskomnadzor has not added ChatGPT to its national blocklist as of 2026, but the practical effect from a Russian IP is the same as a block. Russian users routinely reach ChatGPT via VPNs and proxies with EU-region IPs. Local Russian AI alternatives (YandexGPT, GigaChat) are Kremlin-adjacent products with different content moderation and are not full substitutes.
This is unusual — the block is at OpenAI's side, not the network side. Russian ISPs allow the connection to reach openai.com; OpenAI's edge infrastructure identifies the Russian IP via GeoIP and either returns a "not available in your country" response or lets the login page load but silently fails on API calls. A web proxy that presents a supported-region IP (any of Frankfurt, Singapore, Virginia — none of which are Russian) resolves both the identification and the chat-tier check.
Networks
- Rostelecom: Largest fixed-line ISP. Roskomnadzor DPI is aggressive on WireGuard/OpenVPN; web proxies over HTTPS bypass this cleanly. Frankfurt ~45 ms.
- MTS: Mobile + fixed. Similar DPI to Rostelecom. Same Frankfurt latency.
- Beeline: Third-largest. Standard Russian filter enforcement.
- Megafon: Mobile-focused. Peak-hour throttling more visible on Megafon than fixed-line ISPs.
What works
Open anyproxy.site, paste chat.openai.com, pick Frankfurt region (closest to Russia at ~45 ms), press Open. ChatGPT login page loads. Sign in with your OpenAI account on the real chat.openai.com URL — not on the proxy landing. Chat sessions work normally; GPT-4 and Plus features function as expected for Plus subscribers. If a chat session fails immediately after login with a "not available" message, switch to a different supported region (Singapore or Virginia).
- OpenAI's terms allow access from supported regions. Signing in from an IP OpenAI does not serve (Russian IP directly) is a policy question — check current OpenAI terms for Russia.
- Signing up a new OpenAI account from a Russian phone number fails at phone verification regardless of proxy — the SMS verification uses phone-network delivery that OpenAI does not attempt to Russian numbers. Use an existing account created outside Russia.
- Roskomnadzor could add ChatGPT to the national blocklist at any time with no advance notice. When this happens, obfuscated tunnels would be needed in addition to the proxy — the current setup handles OpenAI's regional policy, not a hypothetical Russian-side block.
- Users are responsible for compliance with local Russian law.
Is ChatGPT blocked in Russia by Roskomnadzor?
Not as of 2026. Russia has not added ChatGPT to the national blocklist. The practical unavailability from Russian IPs comes from OpenAI's own regional policy, not Russian network filtering.
Will my OpenAI account get suspended for using a proxy from Russia?
Using a proxy to access ChatGPT from a supported region is standard. OpenAI's terms permit access from supported regions. If OpenAI adds explicit prohibition on Russian users in the future, that would be a policy change — the current terms allow supported-region access. Check the current terms for your specific situation.
Does ChatGPT Plus work through a proxy from Russia?
Yes if you already have Plus. All Plus features (GPT-4, browsing, custom GPTs, higher rate limits) function through the proxy when connected via a supported region. Purchasing a new Plus subscription from a Russian card is a separate question — Russian card processors (Mir) do not connect to Stripe / OpenAI billing.
