Facebook is not blocked in Vietnam: OONI measurements from 15 July to 15 October 2026 show 7,536 of 7,566 tests of www.facebook.com loading normally, with no confirmed blocks. Vietnam did slow it once: in February–March 2020 state-controlled ISPs took Facebook's local servers offline for about seven weeks until Facebook agreed to restrict more content, Reuters reported. Through AnyProxy, Facebook loads but shows a login wall over public pages when you are logged out.

Measured inside Vietnam · OONI
7,566 OONI tests of www.facebook.com from 2026-07-15 to 2026-10-15: 7,536 loaded normally, 19 anomalies (not proof of blocking), 11 test failures.
99.6% of 7,566 OONI tests from Vietnamese networks loaded Facebook normally (15 Jul–15 Oct 2026), 0 confirmed blocks and 19 anomalies across VNPT, Viettel, FPT and others. OONI checks reachability, not speed, so it would not catch a 2020-style slowdown.

Tested from our proxy exits, not from a Vietnam ISP. Results can change when Facebook changes.
How to unblock from Vietnam
A phone on mobile data, a college PC, a managed browser — anything that runs Chrome, Safari, or Firefox works from Vietnam.
Singapore is closest for most Vietnam networks. Switch if your ISP filters the first hop.
Facebook is fetched from outside your network and opens in this tab. Some features may not work; see tests on this page.
Deep dive · Facebook in Vietnam specifically
Feb–Mar 2020: State-controlled ISPs take Facebook's local cache servers in Vietnam offline for about seven weeks, slowing Facebook (and Instagram, WhatsApp) to the point of being unusable at times. Apr 2020: Reuters reports, citing two Facebook sources, that Facebook agreed to significantly increase restriction of 'anti-state' posts for Vietnamese users, after which the servers came back. Facebook confirms it 'reluctantly complied'. Apr 2022: Access Now reports draft rules requiring platforms to remove 'illegal' content within 24 hours and illegal livestreams within 3 hours. Q1 2023: Vietnam's Ministry of Information says Meta blocked or removed more than 1,096 posts at its request (93% compliance). 25 Dec 2024: Decree 147/2024 takes effect: users must be verified by Vietnamese phone or ID number to post; platforms must remove content deemed illegal. Jul–Oct 2026: OONI: 7,536 of 7,566 tests of www.facebook.com from Vietnam load normally; 0 confirmed blocks.
Vietnam does not block facebook.com. Its leverage is (1) takedown requests that Meta largely complies with, (2) legal deadlines for removal (24 h for illegal content) and identity verification under Decree 147/2024, and (3) in 2020, taking Facebook's in-country cache servers offline so traffic had to travel abroad and slowed to a crawl (Reuters via Al Jazeera/HRW). Content Meta restricts 'for Vietnam' is geo-restricted, so it depends on the country Facebook sees.

DNS snapshot
We scanned 15 public DNS resolvers worldwide for facebook.com. Below is what each resolver returned. This shows how the domain resolves from public resolvers outside your network, not what your ISP returns.
Snapshot from DomainScan on 2026-10-05. A resolver that gave no answer is not proof of blocking in Vietnam; see the measurements above for in-country evidence.

Legal in Vietnam?
Web proxy use is not explicitly prohibited in Vietnam, though the Cybersecurity Law regulates the content itself.
Nothing on this page constitutes legal advice. If your workplace policy prohibits proxies specifically, that policy still applies; the fact that the tool is legal does not override an agreement you signed with a network operator.
