Iran combines DNS tampering, IP and keyword blocking with periods of near-total shutdown. In 2026 IODA and Al Jazeera reported shutdowns from 8 January and a blackout of over 2,000 hours ending in late May, after which IPv6 and HTTP/3 stayed blocked and UDP disrupted.
