Explanation
The extension pattern is more convenient than a web proxy for repeated use — one click switches the proxy on for all tabs. But the extension install is what fails on managed Chromebooks, school iPads, and enterprise Chrome profiles that lock the Web Store to an approved allow-list. On those devices, a web proxy (visited as a URL) is the only option. On personal devices, extension proxies work fine; the KProxy extension is one example.
