On 15 Oct 2026 DuckDuckGo's page and instant answers loaded through AnyProxy (Singapore and Frankfurt), but every search showed DuckDuckGo's own anti-bot challenge ('Unfortunately, bots use DuckDuckGo too. Select all squares containing a duck'), including the HTML-only version. !bang shortcuts do work: '!w Singapore' landed on Wikipedia's Singapore article inside the proxy. Governments have blocked DuckDuckGo in China (since Sept 2014) and Indonesia (Aug 2024).

What is a DuckDuckGo proxy?

A DuckDuckGo proxy is a server that fetches DuckDuckGo for you and returns the page through your browser. Instead of your device asking duckduckgo.com directly, your browser asks anyproxy.site, and we ask DuckDuckGo on your behalf. The site sees our server, not you. Your network sees anyproxy.site, not DuckDuckGo.

15 of 15 public DNS resolvers returned an address for duckduckgo.com in this snapshot. A resolver with no answer is not proof of blocking anywhere. If your own network returns nothing or a different address, the problem is more likely on your network than at DuckDuckGo.

What the proxy cannot do for DuckDuckGo
Honest caveats
- DuckDuckGo showed a 'select the ducks' bot check on every search through both regions on 15 Oct 2026 (also in a headed real Chrome run: /evidence/duckduckgo/search-headed-sg-20261015.jpg). The HTML lite version did not avoid it.
- !bangs (e.g. !w) redirect before the search page, so they worked without the challenge.
- DuckDuckGo sets region and weather from the proxy exit: Singapore for sg, Germany/Frankfurt for fr. Change the region toggle if results look foreign.

Managed networks — managed Wi-Fi, café PCs, hostel internet — often filter DuckDuckGo at the DNS or IP level. Content filters used by schools and companies sort sites into categories such as "search", and administrators choose which categories to block.
Because AnyProxy is a website — not an app or extension — a Chromebook or managed browser that restricts installs still opens it in Chrome.
