What we tested through AnyProxy

What works on Facebook, and what doesn't

Facebook home page with the 'Log in to Facebook' form, opened through AnyProxy's Singapore server

Open facebook.com home

Worked · SG exit · 2026-10-15

The Facebook login page loaded fully: form, illustration and language links.

NASA's Facebook Page greyed out behind a 'See more from NASA' login dialog, opened logged out through AnyProxy's Virginia server

Open a public Facebook Page (NASA) logged out

Partly worked · US exit · 2026-10-15

The Page header, cover and intro loaded, but a 'See more from NASA' login dialog covered the feed.

Messenger landing page with Meta's cookie consent dialog, opened through AnyProxy's Frankfurt server

Open messenger.com

Partly worked · FR exit · 2026-10-15

The Messenger landing page loaded behind Meta's EU 'Allow the use of cookies' dialog. We did not sign in.

Log in and read the News Feed or send a Messenger message

What is a Facebook proxy?

The short answer

A Facebook proxy is a server that fetches Facebook for you and returns the page through your browser. Instead of your device asking facebook.com directly, your browser asks anyproxy.site, and we ask Facebook on your behalf. The site sees our server, not you. Your network sees anyproxy.site, not Facebook.

That single hop is what lets a blocked Facebook page open. No app to install, no account to make. Six regions, sorted by real latency.

Facebook infrastructure, verified

Facebook itself is healthy

When Facebook will not load, Facebook's own servers are rarely the cause. Here is a dated snapshot of the real facebook.com infrastructure from DomainScan on 2026-10-05 — compare against your network's symptoms.

15 of 15 public DNS resolvers returned an address for facebook.com in this snapshot. A resolver with no answer is not proof of blocking anywhere. If your own network returns nothing or a different address, the problem is more likely on your network than at Facebook.

What the proxy cannot do for Facebook

Honest caveats

  • The Facebook app is not proxied — open facebook.com in the browser. messenger.com also opens in the browser; we have not tested sending messages.
  • Logged out, Facebook shows Pages behind a login dialog; you need an account to scroll a feed.
  • Through the Frankfurt region, Meta shows an EU cookie-consent dialog first.
  • Logging in from a new country often triggers a security check by email or code. Turn on two-factor authentication first.
  • Voice and video calls use WebRTC and do not route through a browser proxy.
  • Facebook runs on Meta's own network (AS32934), the same as Instagram and WhatsApp, so a block on one Meta service often affects the others.

Need every app on your device covered, not just one browser tab? That is a VPN's job — see proxy vs VPN for when each is the right tool.

FAQ

Facebook, specifically

Is AnyProxy affiliated with Facebook?
No. AnyProxy is an independent web proxy service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Facebook or its operators. All Facebook trademarks and brand references on this page identify the destination site — the real facebook.com — that our proxy helps you reach. If Facebook is your account provider, only enter your Facebook password on the genuine facebook.com URL after the proxy loads it, never on anyproxy.site itself.
Which countries block Facebook?
China (since July 2009), Iran (since 2009, and still closed off in May 2026), Myanmar (since February 2021), Russia (since March 2022) and North Korea. Others, such as Bangladesh, Pakistan, Vietnam and Nepal, have blocked or slowed it for shorter periods. Gabon suspended social media on 18 February 2026; we have not confirmed whether that suspension is still in place.
Why do Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp go down together?
They all run on Meta's network, AS32934. A block or outage at that level affects all of them at once.
Why did Russia block Facebook?
Roskomnadzor blocked it in March 2022 after the invasion of Ukraine, and a Russian court later designated Meta an extremist organization.
Can I use Facebook Messenger through a proxy?
messenger.com opens in the browser; on 15 Oct 2026 it loaded through Frankfurt behind Meta's EU cookie dialog. We have not tested sending messages; it needs a login.
Can I see a Facebook Page without logging in through the proxy?
Partly. On 15 Oct 2026 NASA's Page loaded its header and intro, but Facebook covered the feed with a login dialog.
Is Facebook blocked in Nepal?
Not now. Nepal blocked Facebook and 25 other platforms on 4 Sep 2025 and lifted the ban on 9 Sep 2025 after deadly protests.

On managed networks

Open Facebook on managed devices

Managed networks — managed Wi-Fi, café PCs, hostel internet — often filter Facebook at the DNS or IP level. Content filters used by schools and companies sort sites into categories such as "social", and administrators choose which categories to block.

Because AnyProxy is a website — not an app or extension — a Chromebook or managed browser that restricts installs still opens it in Chrome. Type facebook.com and Facebook opens in the same tab, as far as the site allows it; see the tests above. Note: your organisation's acceptable-use policy still applies; check it before use.

State-controlled ISPs took Facebook's local cache servers offline for about seven weeks in early 2020, slowing it sharply Source

Feb–Mar 2020: State-controlled ISPs take Facebook's local cache servers in Vietnam offline for about seven weeks, slowing Facebook (and Instagram, WhatsApp) to the point of being unusable at times. Apr 2020: Reuters reports, citing two Facebook sources, that Facebook agreed to significantly increase restriction of 'anti-state' posts for Vietnamese users, after which the servers came back. Facebook confirms it 'reluctantly complied'. Apr 2022: Access Now reports draft rules requiring platforms to remove 'illegal' content within 24 hours and illegal livestreams within 3 hours. Q1 2023: Vietnam's Ministry of Information says Meta blocked or removed more than 1,096 posts at its request (93% compliance). 25 Dec 2024: Decree 147/2024 takes effect: users must be verified by Vietnamese phone or ID number to post; platforms must remove content deemed illegal. Jul–Oct 2026: OONI: 7,536 of 7,566 tests of www.facebook.com from Vietnam load normally; 0 confirmed blocks.

Vietnam does not block facebook.com. Its leverage is (1) takedown requests that Meta largely complies with, (2) legal deadlines for removal (24 h for illegal content) and identity verification under Decree 147/2024, and (3) in 2020, taking Facebook's in-country cache servers offline so traffic had to travel abroad and slowed to a crawl (Reuters via Al Jazeera/HRW). Content Meta restricts 'for Vietnam' is geo-restricted, so it depends on the country Facebook sees.

What works

In our tests through AnyProxy on 15 October 2026, these worked: Open facebook.com home. these partly worked: Open a public Facebook page (BBC News) while logged out. Details and screenshots are below.

  • Logged out, Facebook covers public pages with a login dialog; you can see a little of the page behind it but not scroll the feed.
  • Logging in from a Singapore IP when you normally use Facebook from Vietnam can trigger Facebook's security checks.
  • Under Decree 147, posting requires a Vietnam-verified account; a proxy does not change what Facebook requires of your account.
  • Content that Meta restricted for Vietnam is illegal to share there; Vietnamese law still applies to you.

No. 7,536 of 7,566 OONI tests from Vietnamese networks between July and October 2026 loaded Facebook normally, with no confirmed blocks.

Did Vietnam slow down Facebook?

Yes, in February–March 2020. State-controlled ISPs took Facebook's local servers offline for about seven weeks until Facebook agreed to restrict more posts the government considered illegal, Reuters reported.

Can I see Facebook pages without logging in through AnyProxy?

Only partly. In our 15 October 2026 test the BBC News page loaded behind a login dialog.
