The 2026 free web proxy list — and how to actually pick one

A curated list of free web proxies worth trying in 2026, with honest notes on speed, ads, session limits, and privacy — plus five questions to ask before you paste a URL into any of them.

There is no shortage of free web proxies online. The catch is that “free” hides a range of tradeoffs — ads mid-session, opaque logging, session caps, or a mobile-hostile interface. This is a working list of the ones worth trying in 2026, with an honest note on what each one actually asks of you in exchange for the free tier.

AnyProxy is listed first because it is ours; the rest are alphabetical. The notes come from our own checks: homepage measurements on 5 October 2026, six Cloudflare-protected sites on 12 October, and a four-task run (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, ChatGPT) on 15 October. For a ranked version with screenshots, see the best free web proxies of 2026.

The list

AnyProxy

What we are. No signup, no install. The free tier has three regions (Singapore, Frankfurt, Virginia) and shows ads. Pro, at $4.99 a month or $39 a year, removes the ads, adds Tokyo and Los Angeles servers, and includes priority support.

What we saw. In the 15 October run a YouTube video played to the end, TikTok Explore and ChatGPT (through Virginia) loaded, and all six Cloudflare-protected sites opened on 12 October. Public Instagram profiles went to the login page, and Reddit refused every AnyProxy region.

What to know. Not a no-logs service: the privacy policy says it can record destination hosts and session details, and lists the third parties involved. TLS covers your browser-to-proxy connection and, for HTTPS sites, the proxy-to-site connection; the proxy handles the page in between. If AnyProxy is not right for you, several of the entries below are worth trying.

4everProxy

A free web proxy, video proxy and paid VPN from one operator. Its homepage lists ten web-proxy servers and 20+ exit locations. It showed a public Instagram profile in our 15 October run (the only proxy that did), but YouTube, TikTok, ChatGPT and all six Cloudflare-protected sites did not load. Paying buys a VPN, not an ad-free proxy. See the 4everProxy comparison.

BlockAway

Free and ad-supported. On our October 2026 checks it sent the same headers and loaded the same scripts as CroxyProxy, and its “Get premium” button links to CroxyProxy’s Patreon — the two appear to be run together. It stopped on all six Cloudflare-protected sites on 12 October. See our fuller comparison with BlockAway.

CroxyProxy

Free tier with ads; Premium at $3.50/month through Patreon removes them and adds a choice of servers in six countries. In October 2026 its homepage sent HSTS max-age=0, which turns HTTPS-only enforcement off. On 15 October it loaded ChatGPT, but the YouTube video did not start and TikTok showed a puzzle CAPTCHA. Full breakdown in our CroxyProxy comparison.

KProxy

Long-running proxy, also known for a browser extension. In October 2026 www.kproxy.com presented an HTTPS certificate for a different domain, so browsers warned before loading it. See KProxy compare.

ProxySite

One of the oldest free web proxies — ad-supported with no paid plan, and a choice of US and EU servers. Its homepage blocks automated checks behind a Cloudflare challenge, and on 12 October 2026 every site we tried through it bounced back to its homepage, so we could not test it. Full comparison here.

Proxyium

Newer, with a clean interface and the same engine as CroxyProxy. Three server locations, two of which Proxyium itself labels “Slow”, and no paid plan. Its privacy policy says logs needed for law-enforcement requests are kept for 60 days. On 15 October TikTok and ChatGPT loaded; the YouTube video did not start. See Proxyium comparison.

TrickyBird

Free without an account, but free sessions end after 60 minutes; Premium is $9.99 a month. Its security page names the access-log fields it keeps and a 48-hour limit, the most specific logging statement of any proxy here. It stopped on all six Cloudflare-protected sites on 12 October. See the TrickyBird comparison.

Five questions to ask before you paste a URL

Any list goes out of date the moment it publishes. So more useful than the list itself: the five questions to run through when you are trying a new free proxy.

1. Where is the privacy policy?

Not “does it exist.” Where is it, and how long is it? A one-paragraph policy is a red flag — the specifics matter. Look for statements about which URLs are logged, for how long, and which third parties see traffic. A proxy with no policy is a proxy with no accountability.

2. What happens between the URL bar and the destination?

Some proxies show a full-page interstitial before every navigation. Some show a banner on every proxied page. Some pop under a new window. All of these are the free tier’s revenue. Know which pattern the proxy uses before you rely on it for a session.

3. Does it handle the specific site you need?

Not every proxy handles every site well. Real-time web apps and sites with strict bot checks are where proxies differ most. Through AnyProxy on 15 October 2026, WhatsApp Web and Discord reached a working login QR code, but Reddit refused every region and Google Search showed a CAPTCHA. Paid streaming such as Netflix and Disney+ needs an account and applies its own licence and region checks, so do not expect it through any free proxy. If your target is unusual, test it logged out in a throwaway tab first.

4. Where are the servers?

Distance sets most of the speed. On 15 October 2026 we timed Wikipedia from India: a median 1.15 s direct, 1.41 s through AnyProxy Singapore, 2.42 s through Frankfurt and 3.65 s through Virginia. One location and one site, but the pattern holds generally: the nearest server costs little, the far side of the world costs a lot. Prefer a proxy that tells you where its servers are, so you can pick the closest one where your site is available.

5. Is there a session cap?

Some free tiers end your session after a fixed time; TrickyBird’s free sessions, for example, end after 60 minutes. If a session cuts out mid-task, that is a real cost. Check the limits page before you commit.

What to skip

  • Any proxy that requires a signup on the free tier. The whole point of a web proxy is no account. If they want your email before the first page loads, that is a lead-gen product, not a proxy.
  • Any proxy running third-party ad-network scripts inside the proxied page. If your target site suddenly shows ads it does not normally show, the proxy may be injecting them.
  • Any proxy whose landing page is mostly affiliate VPN links. The proxy exists to funnel you to a paid VPN. Sometimes the underlying proxy works; often the operator has minimal skin in keeping it running.

The honest answer

No proxy on this list opened everything in our October 2026 tests. The differences are in which sites load, how many ads you see, and how much you have to trust the operator with your traffic. Whichever you use, do not sign in to important accounts through it.

Try AnyProxy with a site that is currently blocked for you. If the session reads as clean, you have your default. If it does not, one of the others might fit better. Either way, run the five-question checklist before you make a proxy the default tab you paste URLs into.

Try it on the site you're blocked from
