Can I unblock Netflix with a web proxy?

Short answer

No. Netflix and other DRM streaming services refuse proxied playback regardless of the proxy tier or region.

Full answer

In detail

Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, HBO Max, Peacock, and every other paid streaming service use client-side DRM (Widevine on browsers, PlayReady on Windows, FairPlay on Apple platforms). The DRM stack verifies the playback environment — signed browser binary, secure hardware path, unmodified OS, and the network path — before releasing decryption keys. A proxied network path triggers the DRM stack's tamper detection. The result is silent failure: the video does not play, or it drops to unwatchable low quality, or the page shows a generic "not available" error. This is not a limitation AnyProxy can fix — it is client-side DRM behaviour that treats any proxied connection as suspicious. VPNs work with Netflix because the VPN preserves the direct client-server path from DRM's perspective; only the source IP changes. For DRM streaming, use a VPN designed for streaming, not a web proxy. For non-DRM video (YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook video), AnyProxy works fine.
