Chromebooks block Play Store apps and Chrome extensions on managed profiles. Web proxies run in a browser tab and work around that. 5 options ranked for managed-device compatibility.
A web proxy is a website, so it runs in Chrome on any Chromebook with nothing installed. That makes the choice about what each proxy actually opens. In our 15 October 2026 test of YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and ChatGPT, AnyProxy managed 3 of 4, Proxyium 2, CroxyProxy 1 and 4everProxy 0. TrickyBird offers an optional Chrome extension, which managed Chromebooks usually block.
Context
How we ranked: we did not have a school- or work-managed Chromebook to test on, and we will not pretend otherwise. Every proxy below runs in a Chrome tab, so we ranked on results that do not depend on the device. Same-day matrix, 15 Oct 2026, four logged-out tasks (YouTube video plays, public Instagram profile opens, TikTok Explore opens, ChatGPT page loads): AnyProxy 3 of 4, Proxyium 2 (plus 1 partial), CroxyProxy 1 (plus 1 partial), 4everProxy 0 (plus 1 profile out of 2 on Instagram). On a managed Chromebook the admin decides which websites load, so a proxy's domain may be on the block list; that is outside any proxy's control. AnyProxy publishes this list and ranks itself in it, so treat our placement with suspicion. That is why every ranking below points to a dated test or measurement, including the tests AnyProxy lost.
